In 2002, NFL Veteran Kevin and his wife Shima Carter launched The Kevin Carter Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization that enriches the lives of children through partnerships with other non-profit organizations that serve youth.
In 2001, Carter created a star-studded event in Nashville entitled “Waiting for Wishes” Celebrity Waiter’s Dinner where he and fellow co-host Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, along with various other celebrities from across the country have raised over $2.5 million for charity. The Kevin Carter Foundation makes a donation to Make-A-Wish® Middle Tennessee, the primary beneficiary of “Waiting for Wishes” with the proceeds of the event each year. Make-A-Wish® Middle Tennessee grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Kevin Carter also founded the Kevin Carter Football Endowment at the University of Florida, which provides scholarships to deserving college athletes.

Kevin Carter often quotes his father’s saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected” and admits he tries to live by that today.
